Purble Pairs is a memory-matching game. A grid of cards sits face-down, and your job is to flip two at a time and remember where each picture is until you match every pair. The goal is to clear the board in as few turns as possible.

Tips & Tricks to Master Purble Place

These are the small habits that separate a casual player from someone who clears Master mode.

Start on Beginner, but only once. Play each mode on Beginner a single time to learn the rules, then move up. Staying on Beginner just wastes time.

In Purble Pairs, use Sneak Peek late, not early. Save the peek for when the grid is mostly cleared and one stubborn pair is left. Early on you don’t need it.

Read the whole cake order before you touch the belt. In Comfy Cakes, the players who lose are the ones who start building before they’ve read the order. Read first, build second.

Never over-decorate a cake. One extra topping fails the order just as fast as a missing one. Match the picture exactly. There are no bonus points for creativity here.

Purble Place was developed in 2005 by Oberon Media under contract for Microsoft, with Jane Jensen (of Gabriel Knight fame) leading the team and Cara Ely producing. Microsoft’s brief was simple: build a “Solitaire for kids.” It was publicly introduced on January 30, 2007, alongside the retail launch of Windows Vista, then came bundled with Windows 7 in 2009, which is when most people met it.

Microsoft removed Purble Place with the move to Windows 8 in 2012, and it has never returned to Windows 10 or Windows 11.
